Solidarity in travel expenses for animal adoptions abroad

SOLIDARITY IN TRAVEL EXPENSES FOR ANIMAL ADOPTIONS ABROAD

We are a group of people dedicated to helping animals that have very little chance of getting adopted
in Portugal. These not only include senior animals with multiple health problems but also those that fall
into the ‘disabled’ bracket i.e. amputated limbs, blind, etc. It is difficult to find in this country people who
are dedicated enough to help an animal with this type of physical disability and these animals face dim
prospects for adoption. Animals that are not considered perfect are almost frowned upon because they
are not in the most perfect health and condition.

On the other hand, in some parts of Europe, families owning several animals are extremely open and
willing to care and look after a disabled animal for the rest of its life. They offer excellent conditions
where the animal is integrated into the home and given a life of dignity that could never be found here in
Portugal.

In order for us to continue our work in saving animals from municipal kennels and from the streets of
Portugal, we would like to make a special request that is quite different from the usual and that is to assist
us with funding for the travel expenses in sending an animal abroad.

Regulations for adoptions of dogs abroad are strict requiring that animals are: spayed/neutered,
vaccinated, dewormed, microchipped, have blood tests and a passport. On top of this there is the cost of
the transport of the animal and all of this comes to a total cost of around Euros 150.00.

All of these costs are difficult to bear and we would like to ask for your help in doing this for these animals.
This value provides a direct passage to a new life in another country for an animal. If you think about it, it
isn’t much to make an animal happy for the rest of its days is it?

We would really like to keep this project going and to continue to save the lives of animals, so we are
appealing to your generosity in helping us to continue to send animals from Portugal to a better life in
another country.

The Portuguese mentality towards animal welfare is regrettably still quite backward and we cannot wait
for people to change their way of thinking. All animals deserve respect and a right to live.

Please do not let this dream end! Help us and contribute to a better world for animals.

Thank you in the name of all the animals that we have saved and that are today living a happy and
dignified life through our help and to those who we hope to help in the future.

Thank you very much.
